Sweco has been commissioned by a joint venture of Groß & Partner Grundstücksentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH and Phoenix Real Estate Development GmbH to plan and design a vital part of the Grand Central project in Frankfurt am Main, a large office project beside the city’s central station.
The area next to Frankfurt main station, one of Europe’s busiest, is about to undergo a significant transformation. 18,000 square meters, including a group of buildings from the 1970’s, will be completely redesigned. A team of experts from Sweco will provide services in planning, architecture, structural engineering and redesign, for the project “Grand Central Frankfurt – Building A and B”.
The project “Grand Central Frankfurt – Building A and B” consists of two new interconnected seven-storey buildings, with a gross floor area above ground of approximately 52,000 square meters, extensive outdoor facilities and a two-storey underground parking. The buildings will become the new head office of DB Netz AG, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, with 2,200 employees. A group of buildings on the lot will be demolished.
All buildings should meet the LEED Gold standard for sustainable buildings.
